Back by popular demand, Heinz Bloch, Hydrocarbon Processing’s Reliability/Equipment Editor, will be interviewed by Les Kane, Editor of Hydrocarbon Processing, in the second of this popular webcast series.
During these uncertain economic times, refiners continue to do more with less and aim to create greater efficiency with a smaller pool of capital expenditures. During this three-part webcast, Heinz explores the impact of the global recession on the maintenance and reliability trends in the HPI. First, Heinz will share his belief system for effective reliability engineering, pulling no punches as he describes his view that adding value requires effort and doing the right thing is very seldom the easy thing, especially in tough economic times. Heinz will then take an in-depth look at equipment life extension, providing best-practices and real world examples. Finally, Heinz takes a step back to look at trends in the industry, addressing short-term and long-term implications of decisions being made when predictions on timing and extent of downturns are vague at best.
Heinz, as an editor for Hydrocarbon Processing for 10 years, has built a dedicated following worldwide in his area of responsibility. He holds six U.S. patents and has authored over 460 technical papers and 17 books on machinery. He was an Exxon Chemical Co. machinery specialist and held positions worldwide before retiring after 24 years with Exxon. His deep personal and technical understanding in the area of maintenance and reliability and current trends will be presented in this webcast.
